Happy Friday!!!

Are you excited for this weekend? I don’t know about you, but it’s going do be a ridiculously busy one for me! Today is my convocation ceremony (FINALLY – my last university class was in July!!) and my mum and a bunch of rellies are coming to visit and spend the night. I will have much, much more to tell you about my weekend on Monday – in fact, it may even warrant a double-post re-cap! For now though, I want to have a bit of fun!

A little while ago, Lisa posted a great MySpace survey on her blog. I never had a MySpace page (it was a trend that didn’t really make its way over to Bahrain during my teenage years) but I love these surveys so I’m sharing it with you today. I’ve changed a few parts so that I can answer some of the questions you guys emailed me at the same time. Here you have My ABC’s:

A

What’s your age? 22 (and 2.5 months if we’re being precise)

Do you have any allergies? Nope, although in high school I may have lied about a papaya allergy. I had some at a friend’s house and I’d never eaten it before. I was on antibiotics on this particular day, and my friend and I decided to go out to a bar that night. Being the responsible girl I am (umm maybe not on this occasion) I figured it would be ok if I only had one drink. Long story short, I broke out on a hive-like rash the next day and had to go to the hospital to get  injections to get the swelling to go down. I told my mum it was the papaya. Lesson learned.

B

When is your birthday? August 15th, 1988

Who is your best friend? I have a few, but for brevity we’ll limit the list just now to my sister. She’s coming to visit me at Christmas time and I haven’t seen her since last Christmas, so as you can imagine, I’m pretty pumped! :D

Way back when...

December 2009

What was the name of your first boyfriend? James. But we had too many differences – he didn’t like vegetables.

C

What’s your favorite candy? Werthers Originals, by a long shot.

When was the last time you cried? Last Friday. It was a great one – my first cry in months.

Have you been out of the country? Yup! Bahrain, the UAE, the US, Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, Scotland, and England.

Favourite Cuisine? Thai, followed by seafood – if you classify that as a cuisine.

D

Dinner last night? A very close version to Wednesday night’s dinner, although with larger proportions of butternut squash cubes and Brussels sprouts. The rest was a mish-mash of cherry tomatos, roasted red bell pepper strips, parsnip, flaked albacore tuna, garlic, herbs, olive oil and white balsamic vinegar. I believe that the same dinner 2 nights in a row is not boring.. it just means that I recognize a good thing when I find it.

Name a trait you share with your dad? We both have super-long eyelashes. I used to wear glasses, and I could always feel my eyelashes brushing up against them.

E

How do you like your eggs? Any way except for runny.

Have you ever been in the emergency room? Yes, once. I was 2 and my mum and I had just been on a trip to Costco. We were about to fly to Scotland that night and she decided we should go and pick up a few things for the trip. I liked to stand in the end of the shopping cart (a bit like Rose on the Titanic). Somehow I managed to tumble over the front – probably because I spotted the Mr. Sketch markers. I fell out, and lay flat on the ground without making a peep. My mum rushed me to the hospital and we got attended to immediately. Note- this was likely because in the midst of my mum’s hysteria, “She fell out of the cart” sounded like “She fell out of the car”. They put tons of big lights over me (or so I’m told), and within seconds I let out a massive scream.

F

Favourite fruit? This is like a mother being asked to pick her favourite child – not fair!!  If I had to choose, it’d be a tie between watermelon and apples.

G

Have you ever pet a goat? I think so – I was taken to many petting zoos as a child so it probably happened there.

Do you like gummy candies? Yep, more than chocolate in fact. I remember when I was little and my mum would take my friends and I to the cinema, I always wanted to get a bag of the pick-n-mix candies. Since it costs an arm and a leg, this rarely happened. On one of the few occasions that it did, I ate so many cherry blasters that I had sores on my tongue for days. The wise, mature me is a little more clever….. I buy them at Bulk Barn instead.

H

What’s your height? 5’10″

What’s your hair color? Naturally dark brown. Currently a little on the red side, and needs a re-dye.

I

Favorite ice cream? I’m more of a frozen yogurt kinda girl, but if I had to choose, it’d be cookie dough.

Have you ever ice-skated? Yes. Being born in Edmonton, I started skating when I was little. I had a pair of skates that I took with me to Bahrain when we moved, just in case there happened to be an indoor rink. Surprise – there actually was!! I’m sure I was the only person on the island who owned skates (everyone else rented these really old ones at the rink) so when they saw my white ones they figured I was a pro. They were soon disappointed.

J

What’s your favorite jelly bean? t’s a big toss-up between Jelly Belly Juicy Pear and Very Cherry, but I also really like the Sports Beans.

K

Do you want to have kids? Yes. But certainly not right now.

L

Are you laid back? Not really. No, not at all. You know those personality quizzes? I’m usually the Type-A.

Do you lie? See A: Do you have any allergies.

When’s the last time you sent a hand-written letter? On Tuesday, to Mr & Mrs B for the amazing belated Thanksgiving dinner they cooked.

M

Do you like mangos? Sort of, but just the raw fruit. In Bahrain, the locals love their mango juice, and you have to be careful if you order it because it’s so concentrated that it’s about as thick as syrup. I like my mango cold, and preferably cut off the skin already so I don’t have to bite it off and get all the stringy bits stuck in my teeth.

Favourite movie? The Blind Side, closely followed by Remember the Titans. And I don’t even understand football.

N

Do you have a nickname? Some family and relatives call me Angie, but I think I’m more of an Ange.

What’s your favorite number? 8.

O

Are you an only child? Nope, my sister is 19 and lives in England. My childhood wouldn’t have been the same without her. The time I threw all her stuffed animals inside her crib while she was napping, eventually filling it all the way up to the top? Never would have happened.

P

Favourite pumpkin recipes right now? Pumpkin Protein Pudding, closely followed by Vanilla Pumpkin Oats.

(Click for recipe)

Q

Do you have any quirks? Of course! There are the ones I talked about in this post, and many more. For example, I like to eat Brussels sprouts – a LOT of them. I can’t sleep with my closet doors open, and before I go out at night, I usually turn down my bed so it’s ready when I get home. Don’t judge.

R

Do you like rice? Yep, just not the plain white kind. I was fed a lot of it as a kid. I didn’t like it then, and I don’t like it now.

Favourite restaurant? Wow, there are many. Locally, I’d have to say Wildcraft – I had my 22nd birthday there, and coincidentally I’m dining there tonight as well! The Seared Ahi Tuna is my fave.

S

Are you a social person? Usually. Unless I’m hungry. If that’s the case, then watch out. ;)

What’s your favorite season? Summahhh!

Favourite smoothie? Green monsters of course!! They’re so versatile, but my favourite one is the basic GM, preferably monstrous and of very thick consistency.

T

What time did you wake up? 4:50am.

Do you like tomatoes? Love em cooked, but I’m not a huge fan of them raw. I add them to salads occasionally, but only if I feel the meal is lacking in red. I suppose that’s another quirk!

U

Do you have an umbrella in your car? Yup, it’s actually a big Burberry one. I won it in a golf tournament.

V

What’s the worst veggie? Indian karela!!!!

(Click to read about my karela experience)

W

Do you wish on stars? No, although if there was a guy that resembled Shane West and wanted to buy me one like he did for Mandy Moore in A Walk To Remember, I might change my mind. ;)

X

Have you ever had an x-ray? I had an MRI once. It’s a long story but don’t worry, nothing was actually wrong!

Y
What year were you born? 1988. My birth was clearly the highlight of that year. In other news, Wayne Gretzky was traded from the Edmonton Oilers to the LA Kings (Oilers have never been the same since), and Ben Johnson lost his medal for the 100m sprint at the Seoul Olympics for failing a drug test. Talk about two #epicfails.

What did you do yesterday? Ran, had a great core workout, went to work, blogged, iced my achey shins (I hate shin splints), and relaxxxxed. Oh, and remember how I told you on Tuesday about my exciting mail? Well, it just keeps getting better! Yesterday a new toy arrived for me at work, so I spent a large amount of time getting acquainted with it.

Z

Do you believe in the Zodiac? Not really, but I do like to believe it when it tells me good things. Today according to Cosmo, my horoscope is:

It’s a good job I went shopping last week now, isn’t it? ;)

OK, YOUR TURN!! Pick 3 of the letters above (or more if you want to!) and tell me about you! Also tell me…

  • What are your plans for this weekend?
  • Are you dressing up for Halloween? I am! Pictures to come next week!

Have a great weekend! :D
