Tasty Eats and Hot Beats
Good morning!
I tried my hardest to give you the most ridiculously cheesy post title ever this morning. Not bad, hey?
I’d like to start today with some breaking news:
This morning I did 8 chin ups!!!
Yes folks, that goal for 2011 of 10 chin ups (underhand, close grip) and 10 pull ups (overhand, wide grip) has almost been 50% achieved!! I sort of did 10 chin ups, but in all fairness to myself, the last 2 were a little lackluster so I decided they weren’t worthy of being counted.
Ok, shameless boasting finished. Did you guys have a good weekend? Mine was a pretty busy one that involved lots of driving. As I mentioned on Friday, one of my besties who I’ve known since I was 2 weeks old and haven’t seen in about 6 years happened to be visiting Windsor for a family function. We felt a reunion was in order so I made a little road trip to see her on Friday night.
Of course, no trip would be complete without a stop at my happy place (but we’ll talk more about that on Wednesday)…
… and snacks to keep me amused.
For the record, The Simply Bar is one of my 2 favourite protein bars next to Luna bars, and the Cinnamon flavoured one is absolutely delicious. It’s reasonably large, crunchy, not super sweet, and it’s got little bits of raisins in it. Oh and it doesn’t have any scary ingredients like a lot of other bars out there. Winner.
On Saturday morning we met up for breakfast at Cora’s and lots of chatting before I jumped back in the car and headed home for an instructor meeting. New Les Mills releases start this week and RPM49 is hawwwwwt!!!
The b-fast:
This weekend I also updated some of my workout playlists because I’ve got what I anticipate to be a wicked cardio session planned for tomorrow. As all cardio junkies know, good beats are essential. The list is a mix of some of my recent freestyle spin classes, as well as other songs that are just, well, awesome. I’ve included some videos for your Monday morning viewing pleasure…
Change of Seasons – Sweet Thing
Firework (Liam Keegan Remix) – Katy Perry
The Time (Dirty Bit) – Black Eyed Peas
Porn Star Dancin’ – My Darkest Days
Raise Your Glass (Liam Keegan Extended Remix) – Pink
OMG (Almighty Remix) – Usher ft. Will.i.am
Yeah 3x (Funk3d Radio Edit) – Chris Brown
Middledistancerunner – Chicane ft Adam Young
The Lucky Ones – Brendan James
Alright, you’ve got till Friday to get your music in order… the workout will be posted on Friday morning. For future reference, this list will be posted on the Tunes page, which I realize hasn’t been updated since September… oops! I hope you have an absolutely wonderful day, and come back tomorrow to hear about the breakfast I’m currently eating that is absolutely rocking my socks. I know you’re excited!!!!
Questions for today:
- What songs are currently on your workout playlist?
- What did you get up to this weekend?

AWESOME! I think chinups/pullups epitomize strength. Can’t wait to work back to them again.
How did you build up your strength to do so many chin ups? Amazing!
I’m always looking for some new beats-ha. 8 chinups?! woohoo…last time I attempted I did 3 completely awkward looking ones and never looked back!
I hate to admit it but I don’t think I’ve ever done a proper chin up. Maybe I need to make that a goal for 2011.
I love Raise Your Glass and We R Who We R. I could listen to those two again and again.
Congrats! That is super impressive.
A constant on my playlist is Blister in the Sun… and (moderately embrassing) Apple Bottom Jeans.

way to tell those goals who is in charge! 8 is awesome!!!!
Right now I’ve been trying to work out a Zumba routine for Pitbull’s Hey Baby (Drop it to the Floor), but so far I’ve only managed to listen to it in the car 3,000 times and imagine choreography for it.
On the weekend we spent Saturday looking at new beds and Sunday I spent cooking like a crazy women so we’d have food to eat during the week. Pretty exciting stuff!
Thanks for the award last week, I’m going to blog about it tomorrow!

Can’t wait to see your Lulu goodies! <–me = jealous!
This weekend was filled with fun! Hung out with a bunch of friends, got many errands done and watched the Chicago Bears kick butt on Sunday! Congrats on the 8 chin-ups. That’s amazing! Have a great rest of the week!
