February Goal Check-In
Ok, is it just me, or did February absolutely fly by?! I can’t believe it’s going to be March tomorrow! Not that I’m complaining at all – the sooner spring gets here, the better! Anyways, the end of the month means that it’s time for another goal check-in.
Looking back at the goals I set for February, here’s how I think I did:
Oooh dear, this did not go so well. I got off to a decent start, and I really did go to yoga twice per week for the first half of the month. But then things got a little off track. I wasn’t super enthusiastic about the studio I was going to, and the classes just didn’t compare to the ones I did in January. Then, my focus shifted over to studying for my next goal (we’ll get to that shortly), and over the past week I’ve been swamped with work and not really in the mood for doing cold yoga. (Not that the room is cold or anything, it just feels that way compared to the hot yoga I was used to.)
I’m beginning to think that yoga and I are just not meant to be together. However, I’ve got a slightly different plan for getting my relaxation time in March… stay tuned.
YESSSSSS! I think I deserve one of these for this particular goal:
Last week I announced that I’d passed the final portion of this certification, which was the practical exam. It wasn’t nearly as difficult as I thought it would be, and I’m so happy to have it out of the way now. At the moment, I’m not doing any formal client counseling (I do have a completely separate full-time job after all!) but I’d love to do some in the future. Having said that though, I’m always willing to answer questions so if you have them, let me know!
Alright, here’s the deal with this one. I can do them – sort of. But some days the quality can be verrrry questionable! Having felt not quite 100% health-wise for almost the entire month of February, I feel like my workouts have suffered a bit. However, I’m finally back to normal and am motivated to get this one accomplished ASAP!
This went reasonably well for the most part! I’ve been reading The Help for a little while before going to bed each night, and have been making some steady progress. The only problem is that I tend to fall asleep after a few pages! (I promise you it’s not a snoozey book, I guess I’m just really tired at the end of the day!) Anyways, the computer-free time has been very much enjoyed, especially since I’ve found myself glued to my desk most days at work lately. I think I’ll keep this habit up in March!
This hasn’t actually happened yet, but I’m still giving myself an A because it is very much in the works!! All the plans are in place, now March 12th just has to arrive. By the way, if you’re a blogger in Ontario that lives anywhere near KW or Toronto, and would like to attend, let me know! Watch this space – photos and a re-cap will be coming soon.
What about goals for March?
Don’t worry, I’ve got some of those too. They’ll be up later this week. For now, tell me…
- How did you do on your goals for February?
- If you’re not into yoga, what sort of activities do you do for stress relief?

I think Feb went by faster than I could set goals! I really can’t believe it is going to be MARCH! That is insane.
COngrats on getting your nutrition certificate! That is wonderful!! Do you have a personal training certificate? I’m looking to get certified and would love suggestions!
Thanks Erin! Nope, no personal training certificate for me yet. It’s something I’d certainly consider getting a little later on. In Canada, Can-Fit-Pro is the main certifying body for that, (same with the FIS and NWS ones I already have) but I know there are more organizations, especially in the US that offer programs. ACE Fitness is the name I’ve heard most frequently, but can’t say I know much about the course.
you did pretty darn well! I didnt make specific ones for feb.. i have more long term goals.. BUT i did want tto do more yoga and that failed… completely.. so the fact that you still did some is very good in my book!
i give you two thumbs up on your goal achievements, angela! way to go!
can’t wait to hear about how you will tweak your yoga plan!
i am the same way – i read before bed, but a *good* night sees me get through more than five pages! it’s a great way to relax. “the help” is on my To Read list; right now i am into “freedom,” by jonathan franzen – great, but my progress is very slow!
i am just going to go over my feb goals (i don’t blog ‘em) and see how i did…think the month went ok!
watch your step out there today – slippery!
Love the sparkly star and congrats on your achievements in February, I seriously need to get more yoga in my life as well!
Well done A.S!! Looks like life is on track. You’re a goal setting inspiration to us all.
Thanks MW!!
Woo!!! A+!!!
Congrats again, Angela. That is so exciting and well-deserved!
Great job, Angela! And congrats on your certificate! How did you apply for that? And this is a question about the post on good mood foods: what exactly are omega- 6′s and why are they so bad as you had mentioned limitting them? Thanks! Looking forward to seeing your March goals in action!
Hi Erin!
Omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids are named using those numbers because of their molecular structure. I won’t bore you with the nerdy chemistry details, but ‘essential fats’ are those that we can’t make ourselves, so we need to get them through food sources. The omega 3 fats are ALA, DHA, and EPA (the first one is the essential one, and gets broken down into the later two), and they’re available in foods like salmon, walnuts, flaxseed, anchovies, etc. Omega 6′s however, are much more common in our diets and some articles say that the average person actually consumes more omega 6′s than their bodies need. Like omega 3s, omega 6′s have one essential fatty acid (LA) which can be metabolized into the rest.
While our bodies need these essential acids, they have different functions. ALA (from omega 3s) is known for its anti-inflammatory abilities, but if we consume way more LA (from omega 6′s), this can actually cause inflammation. That’s why it’s a good idea to maintain a balance and focus on making sure we get enough omega-3s — based on the research I’ve done, most people already get more than they need in the omega 6 department. Hope this helps!
I love that you give yourself a report card at the end of the month! What a cool idea! My goals for February were kind of odd : blog every day (I’m new to the blog world) and taste a new-to-me fruit every day. I’m giving myself an A- on both of those, because I only missed one weekend when I was out of town.
To relax, I like to go on a long walk with the dog.
I like your fruit goal!! Blogging every day is a good one too – I know I found it a little overwhelming at first so I decided to cut it down to just weekdays. Soon, I’m sure you’ll be surprised where you get your inspiration from!
This is great! I can’t believe how Feb has flown!! My goal of getting my office cleaned out is an A- we got most of it done…still a little to go!
I do yoga for stress relief or get massages when it’s in the budget!
And you’ve got a fancy new desk! I’d say that’s fantastic progress!
Your gold star is bomb.
My main goal for feb that I detailed on my blog was to cook vegetarian every day. (I am a vegetarian, but have just been eating carbs and crappy food instead of filling veggie meals. Not good.) It was going really well til I took a new job in SF last week and subsisted for a week on yogurt pretzels and brownies. So that was a fail. But I guess I had a goal for a new job and a new city and here I am, so that makes up for a little part of it.
Ah, your right February did fly by!! But, like you said, the faster Spring gets here the better–so no complaints!!
I wish I could attend the blogger meet-up–I’m sure you’ll have a fabulous set-up!!
Your report card is awesome! Love those pictures! Who did you get your nutrition cert through? I am studying to get my ACE Lifestyle management and wellness coach certificate to aid with my NASM PT.
That’s awesome! How do you ike the ACE one so far? Both my nutrition cert, and my fitness instructor specialist certs are through Can Fit Pro, which is the main certifying body in Canada. I’d like to eventually do some more nutrition-based ones – it’s an item on the bucket list!
