Fit Bit Friday 25
Happy Friday!
How are you doing today? I hope you’ve had a wonderful week. Any exciting plans for the weekend? I’m super pumped to get back to my Sunday hot yoga class – I really missed it over the holidays! Apart from that, you’ll find me relaxing and trying to kick this gross head cold that I seem to have picked up over the holidays out of my body. The sleeping-sitting-up routine is getting very old! Today I’ve got your first Fit Bit Friday of the new year to share. Get ready to sweat!
Work It Out
The circuit I’ve got for you today is one that I shared last week with Carol‘s readers as a guest post, but I’ve been loving it so much that I wanted to post it here for you too. It was intended to be a workout that I could do in Italy with no gym equipment at all, but let’s just say that working out didn’t really happen in Milan! However, I love the way this routine cranks up my heart rate and works my entire body in such a short amount of time, so I’ve done it a few times since returning home. The tuck jumps are no joke!
The No-Time-For-The-Gym Workout
***Disclaimer: As is the case for all of my workouts, please check with a medical professional before beginning any exercise program. I am not a certified personal trainer and all workouts found on my blog are based only on my own experience.***
Trying to squeeze in exercise but can’t make it to the gym? No problem! This routine requires absolutely zero equipment (well, except for your own body weight) and combines strength and cardio moves for a quick yet super efficient workout. The burpees, jumping lunges, tuck jumps and jumping jacks are thrown in to get your heart pumping, so aim to do these as fast as you can. Take your time on the strength exercises and be sure to use proper form to prevent injury. You’ll run through the entire circuit three times, taking a minute to rest and hydrate between each round. Got more time? Feel free to add on another one!
As always, be sure to take sips of water as you go to stay hydrated, and aim to drink lots when you finish too. Cool down with some light walking and stretches to bring your heart rate back down.
Turn It Up
Lately I’ve been listening to The Pulse on XM radio and not much more. When I was waiting for my flight over the holidays, I heard a song in the airport that I immediately fell in love with. For all I know, 123 by Craig Smart may have been playing on regular radio for months now. You might even be sick of it already. But I adore this tune right now, and just might have already listened to it 5 times this morning!

- What physical activities have you got planned for the weekend?

take care of your cold, angela! i’ve got the sniffles, too. hopefully that hot yoga will help clear out your sinuses!!
i have not really switched up my workouts – i’m happy with where things are at. i DO plan on adding some retail shopping to my workout list this weekend!
NICE! That’s my favourite kind!!
How fitting that you chose that picture! The BF and I are starting a boxing class tonight! We’re really pumped. I’ve done Muay Thai boxing with my brother the past few months, but this will be a bit more structured. You would not catch me dead wearing that outfit to the class though! Baggy shorts and a tshirt? Much better!
Thanks for the “no time” workout routine!

Wow that sounds like SO much fun! I hope you guys enjoy it. I’ve always wanted to try a boxing class. I think it’d be a great way to blow off some aggression after work. Have a great time!
I plan on adding swimming to my workouts
I like it! Have fun!
Of course I wear an outfit like that when I workout. Doesn’t everybody? Just kidding! For me iit’s sweats or yoga pants with a tank top or big t-shirt!
Your workout looks like a killer! And doing it 3 times, eck!!
This year I switched up my workout to do 3 days a week of strength training! I’ve been doing the Jackie Warner 30 day fast start workout and it’s killer on my arms and abs! However, since I started to do that I have been exhausted and really slacked on my cardio. It seems my brain things one or the other!
Have a great weekend!
Yep, I was definitely gritting my teeth on the 3rd round!!
That’s awesome that you’re getting into regular strength training! I used to be terrible about it and only do cardio, but it’s amazing how much stronger I felt when I began to do it on a regular basis. I’m sure you will too, and maybe once you start seeing results you’ll feel like you can incorporate your cardio again. The workout here is a mix of strength and cardio, so you can tackle both at the same time.
These are my favorite kinda workouts!!! Going to bookmark it for a later day when I need a super quick workout! Thanks for sharing!!!
That workout looks great!
Still loving this workout!! Glad you shared it here too- it deserves lots of exposure!!
Love the articles you shared too. Thanks girl!
Ah this is so inspiring, definitely need to kick up my workouts in 2012
I’m SO glad I came across your blog, I absolutely love it! Consider me your newest follower! xoxo
Aww thank you so much Kelly! I’m glad I could give you a little inspiration boost. If you want more routines like this, check out the other Fit Bit Fridays on my workouts page. Have a wonderful weekend!
Ah, yes! I love at-home workouts! Definitely doing this over the weekend!
And, I pretty much always wear the same outfit as that girl while working… haha, right.
Have a great weekend girl!!
love your blog!
Awesome workout! I’ve loved every single one of your routines that I’ve tried. Can’t wait to test this one out!
With the new year, I’ve been focusing more on high-intensity circuit training (for shorter periods of time), and upping my weights when I strength train. It feels great!
Thanks Emily! I have also been focusing on more high-intensity circuits this year, and so far this has been a very welcomed change. Glad you’re getting good results too!
Since I am new to your blog, I have to say that it’s really cool that you post a workout. This is definitely something I can do at home or at the gym.
This weekend we are going to a birthday party at this amazing Chinese restaurant, so we already took our dog to the park and ran around tonight and will probably get a nice bike ride in on Sunday.
Thanks for stopping by Maureen! And enjoy the party and your bike ride on Sunday. I wish it was warm enough for bikes here in Ontario right now!
Awesome workout, thanks! Can’t wait to try it!
LOVE the workout! I am ramping up my workout schedule for the racing season so this fits in perfectly.
Also, just finished catching up on your Italy trip! Looks AMAZING!
Thanks Jess! I can’t wait to hear how racing goes for you this year!
I just started doing barre classes and I LOVE them! I taught a step class this mornig and I am going for a long run tomorrow!
Sounds like a great weekend full of fitness! I’ve not tried any barre classes yet (and that’s probably because I’m totally not a dancer) but I’m still curious about them. Glad you’re enjoying it!

Love this round-up! Thanks for the tips, lady
I’m on a running streak! I turned 23 on the 17th of December so for the last 3 weeks I’ve been running at least a mile every day. I am a spin instructor and a triathlete but I’ve never ran this much. Any little injury I’ve let get bigger or bigger in my mind and stop me in the past. Right now I’m on day 22 (my plan was to run 23 days straight in honour of being 23) and I think I’m gonna make it, even with some sore spots. I think I’m a runner now, after all. It’s silly that I don’t feel like one (half marathons, plenty of 10km races, etc. under my belt) but I really needed this!
Cheryl, that is AWESOME!!! Congratulations on all of your running so far. I know injuries can be frustrating (that was one of the reasons I became a spin instructor – I realized my knees just couldn’t take all that pressure all the time!) and one thing I find reduces the pain is foam rolling after each run. I’d say you can definitely call yourself a runner now, and good luck on the last 2 days of your challenge!!
I am definitely trying that workout.
Thanks for sharing!
And I’ve been trying to mix up my workouts – spin, hip hop class, zumba, running, weights – you name it, chances are I’m doing it!
