24 tunes to sweat to
Good morning friends!
First of all, my apologies for the random blank post that may have appeared in your Reader yesterday or in your inbox this morning. It was a classic case of multitasking gone wrong! I’m on the final countdown for the Lululemon SeaWheeze and as you can probably tell, am getting verrrrrry excited! Normally I am a very last-minute kinda girl when it comes to travel but I’m actually feeling rather well prepared for this trip.
Even though each of my Fit Bit Friday posts feature a new song I’m currently loving, it’s been a while since I posted a full playlist. Music is pretty key to keeping myself distracted and running quick during races, and these are the jams in my lineup for 7:37am on Saturday morning:
- I Wanna Love Somebody Like You – Keith Urban (A cruisy tune to start and get into my rhythm… don’t want to go out too fast!)
- Love Revolution – Natalie Grant
- How We Do (Party) (Paperchaser Remix) – Rita Ora
- Sweet Disposition (Axwell & Dirty South Remix) (Emte Radio Edit) – The Temper Trap
- Kiss You Inside Out – Hedley
- Shining Down – United In Dance ft Jenna
- In My Head/Airplanes- Kris McTwain (via Les Mills Body Combat 48 – this is a cover of the Jason Derulo song)
- This Life – Mercy Me
- Dark Side (Liam Keegan Remix) – Kelly Clarkson
- Good Girl – Carrie Underwood
- Take Me To The Clouds Above (Audiolush Remix) – LMC vs U2
- Blow Me One Last Kiss – Pink
- Domino (Reidiculous Remix) – Jessie J
- Call Me Maybe (Reidiculous Remix) – Carly Rae Jepsen
- We Found Love (Reidiculous Remix) – Rihanna ft Calvin Harris
- Breakin’ Dishes – Rihanna
- What a Night (Lil Jon vs Journey Mashup) – DJ Kontrol
- Born This Way (Kris McTwain Remix) – Lady Gaga (via Les Mills RPM 52)
- Wherever You Will Go (Hands Up Remix) – Jan Wayne (via Les Mills RPM 53 – this is a cover of the same song by The Calling)
- Titanium – David Guetta ft. Sia
- Scream (Reidiculous Remix) – Usher
- Blackout (Wideboys Remix) – Breathe Carolina
- Sparks Fly (Metal Cover) – Taylor Swift
- Brokenhearted (Reidiculous Remix) – Karmin
In total, that’s 2 hours of music, so it should be way more than enough to get me to the finish line. I’m hoping the faster tunes between the 1:30:00 an 1:40:00 marks (the Born This Way remix, the Wherever You Will Go remix, and Titanium) will inspire me to clock a very speedy finish!
Now it’s your turn! Tell me…
- When you run, do you listen to music or do you prefer to just take in the sights and sound of the race environment?
- Anyone else running a race this weekend? What does your playlist look like?

safe travels, angela, and all the best in the race!!
i run with music as it’s motivating and keeps me on pace. always make a new playlist for a race, too! you have a great mix of styles in this playlist!
(btw, i DID end up doing something new: unexpectedly testdrove the toyota yaris and am considering a prius!).
Thanks Cathy! And very exciting about the test drives! Will you be keeping your Rav4 still if you get a Prius? I’m still in Rav4 heaven!
Nice playlist. I might have to copy that. I usually don’t listen to music in my races but these last few I wish I had. I have a 13.1 race in Atlanta in Oct that I’m training for and a new playlist might just be what pushes me through. On some of my training runs, I listen to music, and lately it’s been my husbands play list. Let’s just say, it’s a huge variety with some songs I just laugh that he even put them on the list. Safe travels
Hehe I like seeing what other people have on their playlists too! Hopefully the weather will be cool enough for you down in Atlanta by October. I hear it’s scorching right now. Good luck with your training and I hope the tunes help!
When I run outside, I don’t listen to music (gotta play it safe!) But when I’m on the treadmill, I like old top 40 hip hop, like Ludacris and Nelly
I’m in the car on the way through the mountains to pick up the puppies and I WISH I could be playing these tunes right now but it would totally eat up my battery. Note to self – come back to this post later!
I’ve had the classic wrong post, post incident before. I had a post go live with pictures of a recipe… and no words. Doh!
Have a fabulous time in Vancouver, rock your run (as i know you will because you’ve worked so hard for this, and you have an awesome playlist). Can’t wait to hear ALL about it.
Thanks my dear! Sorry to hear about that battery… now you’ll have some tunes to rock out to when you unpack!
Oh man good luck! Traveling somewhere for a race sounds so exciting! When I run, It is always without music, unless I’m on a treadmill. I listen to my breathing, take in the surroundings, and listen to things around me for safety. My cross country coach in high school refused to let us listen to music- which was super interesting.
Thanks Sarah! Occasionally I like to have no-music runs too, but like you, on the treadmill, my iPod is a staple!
Sweet Disposition and Titanium – good ones!!
We have the same runners! Our feet are going to look so good on Saturday!
PS: Music looks awesome! Going to make my list today!
Sadly those ones are retired! They don’t have a whole lot of oomph left in the soles, but I now have the blue and pink 2170s so we’ll still be Asics ladies!
Where do you find your remixes?! I can’t ever get remixes on iTunes for some reason! Drives me crazy. This is an AWESOME list! Thanks for sharing it!
No probs girl! If you click on the youtube links, you should see a button under the video screen that says something like ‘Buy this song on iTunes’. Shoot me an email if you need help!
Nice playlist! Thanks for sharing! Ratatat and Calvin Harris songs usually keep me going.
The SeaWheeze Half combines all my favorite things…yoga, running, concerts and Canadians! I can’t wait to read about it! Have fun and good luck!
Oh I HAVE to listen to music while running and just downloaded a few of the songs you shared! So thanks for the new tunes!
Also, you are going to rock the SeaWheeze – just like you rock all of your workouts! I can’t wait to read your recap!
Have a fabulous time and safe travels! <3
Wooo! Just when I needed music! Best of luck on the race, girlie!
love all of the country music in here!
I am so beyond jealous that you are doing this race!! Maybe I will do it next year instead of the BMO Vancouver Half I did in May. Can’t wait to hear how it goes!
This soundtrack is amazing! I’m training for my half-marathon so this will definitely come in handy for those long runs
Thanks for the great playlist, I hope your race was as awesome as the music! Any chance you could post this playlist on Spotify? That way we can just click ‘subscribe’ and wah-lah, it’s ours!
Thanks!!!
Hi Denise! I’ve never really used Spotify before, but I’ll look into it!
