How has your week been? I’m back home now, which after having moved into a new condo two weeks ago and gone on vacation 3 days after, it feels nice to have a quiet weekend ahead! Aside from catching up with some friends and doing a bit of recipe creation for the blog, I haven’t got a whole lot else planned and I’m really looking forward to it!
Work It Out
Today’s routine is one that I made up on the fly while working out on vacation earlier this week. In my dad’s house, we’ve got a rowing machine, a step, and a couple of exercise balls. I found that it was quite difficult to run for a long time outside, partly due to the heat. However, the main reason was because our house is located on a compound (a gated community), which is situated in the middle of a fairly traditional village. I figured running outside of the compound in my Lulu gear might upset the locals (in comparison to their abayas and thobes, I’d be practically naked!) I didn’t want to cause a scene. Instead I did a lot of laps around our tennis courts, then came inside for some strength training. Which brings me to the circuit…
The Sweaty 7 Circuit Workout
As the name implies, there are 7 moves that you’ll do, one immediately after the next. The last is a 250m row done at max effort. You’ll go through this circuit 4 times, so in the end you’ll have rowed 1km. The goal is to decrease your row time every round, so be sure to record it during the few minutes of rest that follow. The other moves will build strength and your cardiovascular ability, so if you’re looking for a full-body workout, this is a great one to choose!
Turn It Up
There aren’t many remixes of songs that I enjoy more than their original versions, but today’s tune is definitely one of those. Hozier’s latest, Take Me to Church isn’t exactly a workout jam but this DJ Mike D Remix came on the radio on my way to work yesterday and I’m totally hooked. Let me know what you think!
