Thanks for stopping by! My name is Angela and I am a self-labeled foodie, shopaholic, runner, and group exercise instructor. I love all things health, food, and fitness-related, as you’ll soon discover if you hang around Eat Spin Run Repeat for a while.
I’m originally from Edmonton, Alberta, but spent my teenage years growing up in the Middle East. I attended a British International school, met loads of fabulous friends, and had some amazing once-in-a-lifetime experiences. I was involved in a ton of activities – soccer, basketball, running, cross country running, golf, swimming, hiking, and a touch of modeling.
Unfortunately, all of this physical activity wasn’t enough to keep up with the way I was eating. Weight piled on and eventually I got to the point where I was unhappy and insecure. I decided to take control of the situation and embarked on a weight loss journey that, from start to finish, lasted 2 years. In the process, I learned how to live a healthy lifestyle – and developed some mad skills in the kitchen! I lost 70lbs by eating well and staying active, two things that continue to be central aspects of my life today.
Since moving back to Canada in 2006 (this time in Ontario), I’ve taken on a number of physical challenges, including several half marathons and my first marathon in September of 2009. I am proud to report that I qualified for Boston and finished in a time of 3:17:41 as the 25th woman out of 1089 total. I’ve also been a certified spinning/RPM instructor since September of 2008. I think this is one of the best jobs EVER because I get to meet amazing people, motivate them, and make them sweat buckets with me on bikes at crazy early hours of the morning!
Although my full time job has me sitting at a desk from 9-5, I’m continuing to pursue my passion for health and fitness on the side. In early 2011, I became a certified Fitness Instructor Specialist and Nutrition and Wellness Specialist through Can Fit Pro, and continue to maintain those designations. I am currently studying to become a certified Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and can’t wait to share my knowledge and passion with future clients.
Eat, Spin, Run, Repeat is a blog about food, fitness, and living a balanced lifestyle. I love feedback, so if you’ve got any comments, questions, or suggestions, please send them to eatspinrunrepeat (at) gmail (dot) com. Thanks for visiting!

I stumbled on your blog on the Eat Clean forum. Glad I did!
Your story is really inspirational. You seem like you are loving life!
You have a great inspiring story! From one Angela to another I look forward to reading more:)
You look great! Just found your site. What did you do exactly to lose the weight? I can’t wait to try your recipes.
Thank you! My weight loss came primarily from cleaning up my diet – eating fewer calorie-dense foods and many, many more fruits and veggies. I followed a plan based on counting calories (but I’m not a counter any more – that was only in my weight loss days!) I can honestly say that I never felt hungry – I ate LOTS, but it was a lot of healthy choices, rather than the not-so-great options I’d been eating before. Exercise was (and still is) also an enormous component – I definitely learned first hand that both are essentials!
Hi Angela and Siena -
You can’t have healthy weight loss without a healthy, balanced diet, and certainly need to continue a healthier eating life-style in order to maintain it.
With any weight loss strategy, if it devoid of regular exercise then the quality weight to be lost will consume a portion of lean muscle tissue. Male or female, you don’t want that. The goal is to lose inches (fat loss) and increase lean muscle, which is not the same as body-building.
Angela, your cardio group instruction is very good for building strength and lean muscle mass, perfect for total body work, and a dynamite bonus toward any weight loss or maintenance goal.
Nice Bio and Happy Thursday evening.
I stumbled upon your blog today and I’m so glad I did. Your story is amazing! Especially about qualifying for Boston at last year’s Scotiabank marathon! I ran the half option and had a great time, but a lot of people I know who are outstanding runners had really horrible experiences, which we thought may have been due to the muggy weather. Amazing!
-Alison
Thank you! And congratulations to you too on running the half! I loved that race – super flat and fabulous spectators to cheer all of the runners on!
wow, congrats on your weight loss and the Boston marathon, that’s amazing!! i’m running my first half in september….looking forward to reading your blog and stealing a few tips
I found your blog through google blogger and it sounds like we have alot in common (weight loss, foodies, runners, students!)! I’m excited to follow along.
Just found your blog and love it!

I just found your blog, and I can’t wait to read more. I love finding inspiring healthy living blogs. That is incredible that you lost 70 lbs. Congrats!
Hi Angela! Where in Canada are you from!? There dont seem to be too many of us Canadians around the blog world. Congrats on a 3:17 marathon, that is amazing! I have set 3:20 as my lofty goal for Boston this April.. Look forward to reading your blog!
Are you sad we cant get Chobani greek yog and Libby’s pumpkin too!!?
Hi Alyson!
I’m from Edmonton, but am currently living in southern Ontario. And YES I am SO sad we can’t get Chobani (among other things that so many of the US bloggers have!) Definitely going to check out your blog too. Thanks for stopping by!
I was going to say the same! I want a TJ’s and a WF’s here. I know parts of Canada have them – but the closest one to me is in a city 5 hours away!
Your running times are SO impressive!
What a fun blog! I’m excited to follow your exercise endeavors!
P.S. I went to my first spin class recently–love it–totally kicked my butt!

Hi there! I came across your blog by a link shared on Facebook. It was a post about prepping your salads for the week and getting more veggie protein. Looked around a little bit and loved your story! Looking forward to reading your posts on a more regular basis!
Thank you so much for stopping by!
Congrats on your weight loss and Boston time! That is incredible!! So glad to have found your blog
Hi Angela! Just came by your blog and I’m so glad I did! Congratulations on your weight loss and learning to listen to your body and care for it. Especially congrats on your Boston time! Way to be!
Great blog. The title is my life on the weekdays! More like eat, spin, eat, eat, eat, run, eat, eat, eat, spin…
I’m new to the blog world: http://clairetherd.wordpress.com
I just found your blog and I am soo glad I did! Can’t wait to follow you! You have such an amazing story.
love ur blog!!! its so helpful!
Wow. Your marathon time is crazy good!!! Your in Canada? Whereabouts?
Very inspiring! I was diagnosed with cancer two years ago. Have since completed treatment, am in remission, lost 50 pounds (combo of stress, treatment and exercise), have competed in a few 5k’s , and am training for my first sprint triathlong- Iron Girl in Portand OR on 6/26/11. I would love to continue my healthy lifestyle by becoming a group exercise fitness instructor. Any tips for me? Thank you & love your blog!
Wow, congratulations! Those are enormous accomplishments! That’s so exciting that you’ve got a triathlon coming up – good luck! I became a certified instructor about 3 years ago now, and it’s honestly the best job (well, part-time in my case) ever! I’m not sure where you’re living, but in Canada the largest certifying organization is Can Fit Pro. I’m now a Fitness Instructor Specialist and Nutrition & Wellness Specialist through CFP, and have also been Les Mills RPM, Schwinn, and Cycle Reebok certified. I’d recommend looking into organizations like this in your area, then finding out about programs you’re interested in. Feel free to email me (see the contact tab) if you’d like more info!
great story. wished i had that kind of balance in my life.
Caught up with you in the Freshly Pressed section today and realized I’ve checked out your blog before but hadn’t noticed the workouts section! I also am a fitness instructor for the 50 and over set at my local gym. I’m always looking for some new “moves” – tomorrow I’m going to incorporate the lunge forward/back move! Stop by for a visit when you have a chance. Happy Cinco de Mayo
Thanks for visiting! I’ll definitely stop by your blog as well. I love “meeting” other fitness instructors! Have a great class tomorrow.
Your story is so inspirational! You seem like a happy, vibrant woman-and I love food, too
I just happened to check out your blog today – its wonderful! I’ve also been debating becoming a certified Spin instructor for a while – and it’s refreshing to hear how much you love it. I’m definitely going to look into it even more now
I’m so glad I inspired you, and thanks so much for stopping by! Let me know if you have any questions at all about becoming certified. I’d love to help you out!
Angela – great spin class on Wed’s – love it! Today was killer with the heat, and special track #5
Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed it!! I’ll see ya next Wednesday… or Monday maybe??
Monday the 25th! Been trying other spin days during the week but also have been running a lot more outdoors now that the weather is nice (and hot..eee!)
Hi! I just randomly found your blog through Twitter and love your above story! I just ran my first half marathon this past spring and am planning to run two more this fall and then hopefully a marathon next spring. I love that you qualified for Boston! I keep telling people that I’m going to do it…and am happy to see that hard work definitely does pay off!
WOW Callie, congratulations on your race! Yes, the hard work certainly pays off. Good luck with your training this summer!

An ask: I loved the blog about kettlebells – I really wish Erb location had heavier weight selection.
Can you do a post on skipping? One of the most underrated activities but probably one of thee best cardio workouts.
Gabriel
Sure! The workout I posted last Friday had a bit of skipping in it (http://bit.ly/pbiehC) but I’ll do another one soon that involves a bit more. I agree, it’s a great cardio workout! And about the kettlebells, glad you liked the post! I love them too and had a pretty killer workout with them this morning. I’m not sure if you go to the Weber club much, but they’ve got some better ones. Still only 1 or 2 sets of each, but they’re pretty heavy!
Thanks Angela!
I used to go to the Weber location but the Erb location is closer by my place and less crowded. Weber does have a good selection! I had to ask for kettlebells @Erb location and they brought them in – which is great! Just need more selection
I may suggest that to them.
I find kettlebell squats are great. What is your favourite kettlebell exercise?
So glad I found your blog! I’m very inspired because your story seems very similar to mine
My journey to find health has been a struggle (and still is!)
I can’t wait to get to know you through your posts
And I want to take one of your spin classes!
Thanks for stopping by! Let me know if you’re in the area…. I know some people who know some people who could hook you up.
Been following your blog. I’m new to the blog world. I enjoy reading your posts!
I’m glad you’re enjoying it! Thanks so much for visiting!
Awesome blog. I live in Vancouver. Where in Canada are you? Wow, you are fast too! Congrats on the running
Thanks Amanda! I’m originally from Edmonton but live in Southwestern Ontario now about an hour from Toronto. You’re so lucky to be in Vancouver – it’s such a gorgeous city!
So glad I found your blog! Just wanted to say hi! Your recipe list is awesome and I can’t wait to try some.
Thanks Danielle! Let me know how they turn out for you!
Hey Angela!
I’m not sure if you remember me, but we met at Katie Hudson’s birthday a couple of years ago (we went to that one restaurant by Caesar’s). Anyhoos, just wanted to say hello…I’ve been following your blog for a while now. I just revamped mine, phewie, was hard work haha.
Keep up the great work!
Hi Barbara! It’s great to hear from you, and yes, I totally remember Katie’s birthday! Congrats on your blog revamp, it looks great!
Hi Angela! I love reading your blog so much that I decided to add it to my blogroll. It’s so nice to see fellow Canadian food bloggers because it seems like there are relatively fewer of us than Americans. Feel free to see your name on my blogroll at…
http://www.beegoesbananas.com/p/blogroll.html
Hi Bee! Thank you so much for the add. I’m going to head over and check it out right now! Are you in Ontario? Yay for Canadian bloggers!!
I came across your blog via Fitnessista’s–I’m having a blast reading it! Thanks for sharing!
Aw thanks for commenting! So glad you found me!
Hi there, I just found you through PB Fingers. I’d love to become a spinning instructor, but I wasn’t sure if I’d have to become a trainer first.
Thanks for stopping by, and I’m glad you found me! To answer your question, I’m not a trainer and it’s not required to become a group cycling instructor. I’m not sure where you’re planning to teach, but here in Canada, the fitness instructor certification is separate to the personal training specialist one. There are several certifications you can get – I’m certified by Cycle Reebok, Schwinn, and Les Mills International. Feel free to shoot me an email if you have any more questions!
Angela,
I’ve actually been reading your blog on and off for roughly a year. I’ve read many blogs and still am so confused on getting healthy. I don’t really care what I weigh as long as I feel healthy and am a smaller size. So here’s my question. Should I focus on low calorie/high cardio for fat loss or mix it up with strength training? Or, becuase I’m strength training should I eat more food so I don’t kill my metablism? There is so much information out there that contradicts itself. I’m so confused
Hi! I stumbled upon your blog while looking at other healthy living blogrolls because I am trying to start up my on blog!
I love your story and I am having a blast reading your posts as well!
Happy Saturday!
Hi Katie! Thanks so much for commenting! I’m glad you are enjoying my posts, and good luck with your new blog too!
LOVE this workout! Just did it myself and linked back to you on this blog post. Seriously lady you are such a cardio badass, way to get me inspired! Thanks!
Hahaha aww thanks!! So glad you enjoyed it!
Wow Beautiful blog:) And I never would have guessed you lost so much weight! Beautiful inside and out.
Aw thank you Marian!
Hi! Just found your blog through OH SHE GLOWS. I am a food blogger from NY. The title of your blog is basically what happens during my day, everyday! Love it.
Nancy
It sounds like we lead very similar lives!
Just found your blog! You have so much helpful information here! I love it.
Look forward to following along.
Thanks Parita! I hope you enjoy it, and am glad you found me!
Hi Angela, left a couple comments on your blog and thought I should read all about you. I too have had a journey in health and fitness…not your typical one. My eldest son has mulitple food allergies and asthma and is on the mend from years of suffering with atopic dermatitis. Through the years, I have learned alot about food and it’s affect on the body. I eat cleaner and live a healthier life because of my children. I even took up running 4 years ago to deal with all the stress. I ran my first 10 km in 2009 and won in 2010 to help raise money for the Allergy Asthma Information Association. I just started a blog, The Food Allergy Chronicles, to chronicle our journey in the hopes to help others feel like they are not alone. It is also another form of stress release for me. I feel our family has experienced so much, it would be a shame not to share our ups and downs with others. By the way, I live in Canada too! Finally got a downfall of snow and it looks like it might stay…winter sure took awhile to get here!
Hi Susan!
Wow, with all of your son’s allergies you must be super creative in the kitchen! That’s so great to hear that you’ve changed your lifestyle for the better, and for the benefit of your family too. Isn’t it great how running works as a stress reducer? I don’t know what I’d do without it – I’m not sure any other form of therapy would give me the same mental benefits! I bet a lot of others out there are very appreciative and inspired by your blog, and I’m sure you’re opening their eyes up to just how many great foods you CAN eat, even with multiple allergies. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment – I always love ‘meeting’ other Canadian bloggers!
Hello!
I’ve just seen ur name/blog @ my favorite blogs so I decided to stop by and see what your blog is all about!
I will be adding you to my favs list of blogs!!
Hi Julie! Thanks for stopping by! I’m heading over to check yours out now too.
hi just found your blog. don’t we all need recipes that are healthy and taste good. i will definitely be coming back to check out more recipes.
Found a recipe of yours on pinterest, was led to your blog and have been here for half an hour. I just subscribed via RSS feed and can’t wait to begin keeping up with you. I’m a runner too, and love eating healthy, but having two kids back to back recently has sort of derailed me on both aspects. Thanks for the inspiration1
Thanks Tina! Sounds like you and I have a lot in common (well, except the fact that I don’t have kids!) I’m happy to provide inspiration in any way I can, and let me know if you’re ever looking for a specific recipe idea, post topic, etc. I’m always willing to help!
Just stumbled across your blog and I am LOVING it!!! Such an inspiration and a great motivation to live a healthy happy life!
Aw thank you so much Emily! I’m glad you found me and hope you’ll stick around!
Congrats on your Boston qualification. That is SO inspiring!!!
Aw thanks Preena!
Just found your blog through a VERY scrumptious picture of the Strawberry Tart on Pinterest. I will be sure to make this since it has ingredients that I can have! I’m also looking forward to some more time to peruse the rest of your blog (and a bit excited to do so as well!)
I love your blog Angela! I’ve been passively following for a while – I love your fitness advice! Nice to *meet* you!
Aw thank you Maggie!
I’m glad you commented. It’s great to ‘meet’ you too!
Hi Angela,
Great Blog! I was wondering how many times a week you spin and how many times a week you run and weight train?
I am training for a half-marathon and LOVE to spin 2-3 times a week and lift weights twice a week but Im worried that it may be too much for a training plan. Any advice?
Thanks!
You have such a great blog going! I am now a loyal follower
Aw thank you Bethany! Sorry, your comments went to my spam filter at first but I’ve rescued them!
Hi! Just discovered your blog through Healthful Pursuit. I enjoy the spin class I go to plus I do weights, run & am currently training for a half ironman triathlon later in the year. Looking forward to reading more about you!
Cathy
Hi,
I have a quick question about your blog, do you think you could e-mail me?
Jillian
Just found your blog through Recipage, and am loving the food/exercise combo.
Stumbled upon your blog from a comment you left on How Sweet It Is. I LOVE spin. I miss my 5:45 a.m. spin instructor sooooooo much. It apparently is not an easy to slot to fill because the gym has gone through quite a number of unreliable and uninspiring spin instructors at that time. I spin now at 8:00 a.m. (apparently an easier time slot to fill.) I will be following your blog now. Thought you should know. And if you ever want to come to South Florida to teach an early morning spin class…I’ll be there!!!
Umm South Florida?! You don’t have to ask me twice!!! I’d give anything to have year-round warm weather like you guys do! Sorry to hear you haven’t been able to find an early-AM spin class. I am also a morning girl so I know how frustrating it can be when group exercise classes don’t start until 7 or later. I hope they find an instructor to fill the spot. (And in the meantime, if they want a sub and fancy flying me in to Florida, I’m more than ok with that lol!) Thanks so much for the comment Andrea!
Love you blog and found you thru Healthful Pursuit!.. I’m a Spinning maniac too!.. Not an instructor (will never dare!) but have loved doing it for over 12 years .. I’m 50 (soon 51) and I agree, right diet and exercise is the only way to be healthy. I’m always on the hunt for healthy recipes and thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge with everybody..
Happy New Year 2013!!!
It’s so great to ‘meet’ you Rosanna!! And I’m always excited when I meet other spinners that share my healthy lifestyle philosophy. I hope you’ll stick around, and let me know if there are any specific recipes you’re looking for. Happy 2013 to you too!
I just found your blog, and i’m so happy you are from Southern Ontario so I can actually find the products you recommend. Are you from the Waterloo Region? I noticed a link to a healthy food store on brideport in Waterloo!
Hi Karen! I am indeed in KW! I love ‘meeting’ local readers and I’m so happy you found me! Let me know if there’s anything that you’re specifically looking for and I’ll do my best to make some recommendations.
Hey! I wanted to let you know I nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award! If you wish to accept this award you can follow the rules on my latest post. Totally up to you, but I love your blog and wanted to share the love.
