Vega’s sports nutrition products are hands-down my favourite when it comes to fuelling athletic pursuits and every-day adventures. Plant-based and free of gluten, dairy, corn and soy, they’re suitable for vegans, vegetarians, and anyone who has sensitivities to these common allergens. They’ve got some of the cleanest, high-quality, whole foods-based ingredients lists I’ve found yet. Whether you’re training for a race or just looking to shift to a healthier lifestyle, you’ll find what you need – and a wealth of helpful educational resources – in their online store, blog, and recipe center.

How I use my favourite Vega products

Navitas Organics

When it comes to smoothie mix-ins and adding nutrition to a whole bunch of other recipes that come out of my kitchen, Navitas Organics is usually involved. They’re my go-to for high-quality, organic cacao powder, hemp and chia seeds, cashews, goji berries, and many more. The company prides itself on healthy foods that have a positive impact on the mind, body and soul, and takes a strong stand for innovation and social responsibility. Sibu is a natural skincare brand whose product line includes facial cleansers, toners, moisturizers and dietary supplements. They’re suitable for all skin types, including problem (hello, that’s me!) and sensitive skin. One of the things that makes Sibu products unique is that they’re infused with premium, wildcrafted sea buckthorn from the Tibetan Himalayas. The sea buckthorn berry is a super resilient fruit that survives in harsh conditions and is loaded with tons of powerful nutrients. It’s also a rich source of omega 3, 6, and 9 essential fatty acids, as well as omega 7s which play a big role in keeping our skin, hair and nails healthy.

US residents can purchase Sibu products online, but this is not yet available for Canadian addresses. Don’t worry though – you’ll find them at many retailers across the country including Ambrosia, Big Carrot, Choices, Fortinos, Foodsmiths, Good Health Mart, Herbs & Nutrition, Kardish, Natural Food Pantry, Nature’s Emporium, Nature’s Fare, Nutrition House, Nutter’s, Pharmasave, Pomme Natural Market, Shoppers, Tau, and Whole Foods Market.

Kitchen Gadgets

Vitamix Blender

The Vitamix gets daily use in my kitchen, and while they’re known for costing a fortune, I’m confident I’ve got mine down to pennies per use now. Over 6 years post-purchase I’ve never had an issue. These are incredibly versatile and can be used for everything from smoothies and juices to dips, soups, nut butters and frozen desserts.

Paderno Spiralizer

Paderno World Cuisine Spiralizer

I use this spiralizer at least a few times each week to slice my veggies, and it makes meals look really pretty! If you’re trying to get more whole foods into your diet, eating them in noodle form might make it a bit easier to reach your goal. This model comes with several blade options for making thick and thin ‘noodles’, as well as ribbons. It’s extremely sturdy and I’ve used it with everything from cucumbers and zucchini to tougher vegetables like beets and carrots.
