Although it’s not mentioned in my ‘About Me’ section, another one of my big interests is music. Not that I’m talented in playing any sort of instrument at all (well, not that I’ve discovered yet – my mum put me in piano lessons when I was younger but I think those lasted about 4 months before we canceled that and registered me for soccer instead!) Anyways, as a spin instructor I’m ALWAYS looking for new music to keep my spinners interested. Here I will post some spin songs, as well as some other songs that strike my fancy!
These are the tunes I’ve been listening to over and over and over again!

One of my spinners recently commented that she LOVED one of the tracks I played this weekend. The song was Defying Gravity, from the musical Wicked. I’d originally heard the slow version on Glee last season, but recently discovered that there’s an AMAZING rock version too by Kerry Ellis, which is on the Wicked in Rock album. I’m not sure if there is an official video, but this is the song from YouTube!
Other songs I’m lovin:
- Breakeven – The Script

- Fire on the Mountain – Rob Thomas
- Break Your Heart (Darren Styles Remix) – Taio Cruz
I’ve also been listening to the new Train album NON-STOP! I loved them when I was younger and their album Drops of Jupiter came out, so naturally, I was ECSTATIC when I found out they recently released a new one. Here are some of my faves so far:
Parachute by Train
Words by Train – Sorry, I can’t find an actual music video, just lyrics. But now you can learn the words!!
Hey Soul Sister by Train – YAY! You get an actual video for this one!!

HI, love your music! do you ever actually post your spin playlists? how often do you teach spin??? Love your workouts, they are the best! Very energizing!
Marianne
Hi!
I tend to use remixes of radio music (as in, the well-known kind), as well as a little bit of techno/trance music, just like I’ve shown above. Currently I teach 2x per week, but also sub if needed.
I usually only post partial playlists – after all, I’ve got to give my participants some incentive to come to class!
I’m glad you’re enjoying my workouts and music! Thanks for stopping by!

HI! I love your blog and I just added it to my Blogg Roll! I also am a health coach, athlete, and spinn instructor! I just started blogging but I made a section to feature my weekly profiles each week for ideas so other instructors can use them! I love that you post songs because sometimes thats hard also! I look forward to following you and all your updates!
Amanda B.
Nice to meet you Amanda! I haven’t updated this page in a while but every Friday I’ve been featuring a new song in my Fit Bit Friday series. If you have a look under the Workouts tab in my menu, you’ll see my monthly workout challenges. Each one has a new song. I’ll update this page soon with my most recent ones. Great to meet another instructor and health coach! I’ll be sure to check out your site too!
I love this collection of songs! As a fellow spin instructor I am always on the lookout for new music. So glad I found your blog!
Thanks Alexandra!! I’ll be updating it again soon with all the ones from my recent Fit Bit Fridays. In case you haven’t found them, there’s a new song in every one of the Fit Bit Friday posts listed on my workouts page. Great to ‘meet’ another spin instructor!
Hi Angela, i love your Blog, I am also a spin instructor in TO, i run a bootcamp and your music is great, its all about the music for me. I love Berlin Dash, have you listened to Chicane , Plumb or Armin Van Brunan?
Keep up the good work
AG.
Thanks Anna! Yep, I do love all of those! You mean Dash Berlin and Armin Van Buuren, right? They’re on my playlists regularly! One of my favourite Chicane songs is Poppiholla – amazing for a nice cruisy spin with a few speedy bits! Thanks so much for commenting!
Sorry for the spelling errors… trying to put 2 kids to bed whilst reading your blog. My fav chicane track is Offshore, a 9 min climb with 16 adds. Clients love it, a real challenge. Have a listen to Plumb.
sorry, also using lots of Mumford and Sons for sprints ( cave) and Lumineers.
The chicane song is sunstroke no offshore, another fav.
sorry for all the posts but wanted to correct myself
A
Hehe no problem! Yes, sunstroke is great. I just can’t get into the Lumineers though! Will check out Plumb as well – thanks for the suggestion!
