Hi Guys!

How was your weekend? I was busy doing lots of packing for my upcoming move, but also spent some time in the gym and hanging out with friends. No complaints, although I could certainly use one more day off!

It’s been a while since my last favourite things post and there are a few items I’ve come across lately that you need to know about. There’s also a chance for you to win some super cute and cozy additions to your fall/winter wardrobe, so hang on right until the end!

1. Honeycrisp apples the size of my face.

I’m pretty sure I’m not alone on this one, am I right? Recently I found some absolutely enormous honeycrisps at one of our local grocers, Dutchies, and I walked out with tons because they were only $1.99/lb. When you find honeycrisps on sale, you STOCK UP!

2. St Francis Coconut Oil Butter Ghee Spray.

I’ve been looking for a coconut oil cooking spray for a while now and am pleased to announce that I’ve found something even better! If you’re a Costco shopper, you may have noticed that they now carry such a thing, and I was intrigued when I first saw it. Then I turned over the can and read the ingredients “Coconut oil (65%), butane, propane.” Now, I’m not flipping out over the latter two because I know they’re pretty standard for “foods” that come in aerosol cans, but I figured there had to be a brand that managed to keep these two things out of their formula.

St Francis Coconut Oil and Butter Ghee Spray

The St Francis Coconut Oil Butter Ghee Spray, as the name implies, is a blend of certified organic coconut oil, butter ghee, and medium chain triglycerides. If ghee (also known as clarified butter) is a new ingredient for you, you can read more about why it’s believed to be considered a healthier fat here. One of the biggest benefits of using this type of cooking spray over say, extra virgin olive oil, is that it has a much higher smoke point. This makes it better suited for high heat cooking, whereas oils with lower smoke points would burn and start to release free radicals if heated to the same temperature. That’s not cool for your health, and it doesn’t make your food taste very good either.

Back to the spray, I love that the only ingredients simple, the container isn’t an aerosol one (yet it still sprays really evenly), and that it works so well in the dishes I’ve been making recently like omelettes, stir fried veggies and curries. This will be a pantry staple from now on! And if you’d like to get your hands on some, you’ll find it in the Goodness Me Online Store. You can also use the discount code EatSpinRun and get 25% off your first order!

3. Coconut oil for everything!

I’m pretty sure this was on my last list of favourite things but it needs to be mentioned again. Now that the cold weather is here, my hands are as dry as toast and it drives me NUTS. II’ve been massaging coconut oil into my hands, especially near my nails every day and it’s helping a ton.

Nutiva Coconut Oil

As far as facial moisturizer goes, I’ve been really skeptical about putting coconut oil on my face because I’ve been so acne prone in the past. However, along with our cold weather and my dry hands has come a very dry forehead. I’ve been rubbing a small amount of coconut oil on my face before bed for about 2 weeks now and so far, it’s been working well! No huge zits (knock on wood) and the flakiness is going away. And at the risk of sounding like a complete weirdo, I kind of enjoy going to bed smelling like a coconut. 😉

4. Ghost by Ella Henderson

I’ve been wanting to post this song for you on a Friday but it’s not really a workout tune, so I’ll share it here instead. Ghost by Ella Henderson is one of the songs lined up in my list of Youtube favourites that I listen to all day at work. (If you’re reading this post in your inbox or have troubles with the video below, you can find the video here.)

5. Seasonal produce guides from Cookie and Kate.

I don’t know Kate personally, but her blog is one that I’ve been reading for several years now and her posts are considered high-priority in my list of daily reading material. I kind of like to think we’d be besties if we met in real life because we both have a serious thing for vegetables. Kate’s got mad skill when it comes to food photography and writing, and lately she’s been creating monthly seasonal produce guides that are totally droolworthy.

In each guide she talks about all the produce that’s currently in season, ways to use it, plus a bunch of recipes to try. You can find Kate’s guide for November here, and I’m sure you’ll be hungry within seconds of seeing her gorgeous photos!

7. Fall clothes from White Plum

Last but certainly not least, I need to tell you about White Plum. It’s an online boutique founded by a very talented and inspirational woman named Hilary Zwahlen, that offers a whole bunch of really cute clothes, jewelry, handbags, shoes and other accessories. Not only are the produts trendy, but they’re also extremely affordable. And yes, even for us Canadians – shipping is only $15!

While I spend a large amount of time wearing workout clothes and running shoes, I do in fact have a wardrobe of ‘regular’ clothes too. It just so happened that around the same time that I was overhauling my cold weather wardrobe a few weeks ago, I also stumbled across the White Plum website. Buying clothes online is often a very hit or miss experience because of my long torso and large but narrow-heeled feet, so it doesn’t happen often… well, unless it’s Lululemon, in which case I know my sizes. However, I was fortunate enough to be presented with an opportunity to partner with White Plum, and they graciously offered to send me a few complimentary items. Since it’s chilly outside, I opted for a few sweaters and hoodies. My wish list was long (seriously, they have some really cute stuff!), but I narrowed it down to these:

The Sonata for Two Cardigan – this was the only item that was a bit too big. Everything else fit perfectly!

The Cross Knit Open Cardigan

The Cozy Leggings Hoodie – this one’s my favourite! The leggings in this photo are the Stardust Chevron Leggings which I bought separately and am also pretty in love with.

(Note: I would have loved to take a few photos outside in these outfits but they arrived late last week and it was rainy and cold ALL weekend. #RealitiesOfBeingCanadian.)

White Plum has offered up a $50 gift card to one lucky Eat Spin Run Repeat reader in the US or Canada, and there are plenty of ways for you to enter using the Rafflecopter widget below.
